Update: Special announcement

Yeah, so I’m on the proofreading treadmill, but I hope I will soon be stepping off (for a while). I do intend to drop Adamantine Book II tomorrow at Patreon, and then (no doubt, sigh) a corrected version the following week.

Meanwhile, I’m setting inKera up as a preorder even though I’m not quite finished with Vayu’s story. That’s because I specifically want inKera to be live for preorder for about six weeks, meaning I want it live at Amazon this week. And I had better not drop dead in November, because my disembodied spirit would be thoroughly embarrassed if a book went live with a chapter (or two) unfinished, let me tell you. However, this seems unlikely to happen! So I’m optimistically assuming nothing will interfere, so inKera is live for preorder at the time you read this. Thus, I have a special announcement!

I have hit the big Five Oh

inKera will be my fiftieth published title. I’m quite a bit happier about this than about hitting the “Wow, you’re older!” milestone, so I plan to make a cake, and quite possibly put 50 candles on it. I also plan to celebrate by making this book a gift to readers. For complicated reasons having to do with the way KDP handles pricing, I can’t set it to free, but for the whole preorder period and right through December, I’m setting the price for inKera to $0.99.

In December, I will go into KDP by hand and drop the prices of various books to $0.99 for the entire month, meaning all the various first books of series plus the standalones, which will be a gift to new readers much more than to you all, I realize that, so I hope you really, really love inKera!

From now until inKera drops, I’ll be doing various themed posts here, which I hope you will enjoy!

  1. Congratulations on the big 50! I think I’ve read the majority of your oeuvre now, and enjoyed them very much!

Appreciate the InKera etc sale and will definitely let people know when the time comes.

Just a quick question – will InKera also be available via Patreon, or does the pre-order mean it goes straight to Amazon?

  2. Wow congratulations on the 50th! What an achievement! That’s so impressive. And I’m so happy about inKera, I’ve been wanting Vayu’s story and I’m so eager to get reading!

  3. Congratulations on the big 50! You definitely deserve some delicious cake. Looking forward to reading Adamantine 2 and inKera

  4. Congratulations on this milestone! It’s been very enjoyable reading.
What flavor cake will you celebrate with?

  5. Thank you, everyone! Elaine, I made a basic chocolate cake for someone’s birthday recently, it turned out really well, and I’m planning to make it again. I should post the recipe with important variations, because it’s good, exceptionally reliable because it seems to be fairly flexible about baking time, and it holds well. A good choice for taking somewhere, as it’s not likely to disappoint.

  6. Kathryn McConaughy

Congratulations! That’s astonishing, especially since so many of the books are so thick! (No wonder two whole shelves on my bookshelf are already filled up!)
I’m looking forward to inKera. I really enjoyed Lisig’s story, so I’ll be excited to see Vayu’s perspective.

  7. Kathryn, that’s why I don’t hesitate to include Medical Emergency, even though it’s only 25,000 words or so. If you AVERAGE it with Tasmakat, then those two books together have a mean length of 167,000 words, so if you only count Tasmakat as one, then it is perfectly fair to also count Medical Emergency as one. That’s my reasoning, anyway! I should look up the words per book and calculate the actual average. And total!

  8. Congrats! I’m pleased to say I’ve read everything so far released (and own most of them). Looking forward to Adamantine and InKera

  9. Well, Susan, it was tricky. I wanted to start at the beginning and wind up at the end, but I also wanted to keep related books together. The order you see came from the intersection of trying to kind of handle both things at once.
