My question is, can this be real? Is it possible . . . is it even *vaguely* possible . . . that some actual people out there think that “The Martian” might have been based on a real story?
Or are they all faking it?

A surprising number of people thought Martians invaded Earth when Orson Welles produced War of the Worlds…despite in-show announcements every 15 minutes about the Orson Welles Halloween extravaganza.
Well, I did think of Orson Wells, but I’ve read assertions that hardly anybody actually believed the broadcast was anything but entertainment.
