I have a guest post up today at the Blog of Erised, about the writing experience.
Beginnings are easy.
Writing is hard, they say, and it is, or it can be. But beginnings are easy. At least for me. I throw words on the page and the beginning writes itself, thirty pages or fifty pages, sometimes more. Usually at that point I don’t have much of an idea where I’m going. I’m discovering the setting and building the world and getting to know the protagonists as I go along. Usually the beginning works, too – I’m not sure I’ve ever had to change or edit those early pages very much.

There’ll be more guest posts as we go through the next few weeks, each one different. I’ll try to post links as they go up, but as you all know, I may be suddenly distracted for a day or two!
