A Sherlock Holmes Scientific Romance

I just wanted to share this with you all, because “Sherlock Holmes” and “crop circles” are entertaining when in the same sentence, don’t you think?

This is actually a novella, “The Adventure of the Field Theorems” available at Book View Cafe in pdf or mobi or epub formats. I thought the idea was funny, even though I’m not actually a Sherlock Holmes fan generally.

The Holmes novella is the third title down. Actually, if you scroll up and down, there are several titles that are kinda tempting. Now that I’ve read CROWN DUEL / COURT DUEL by Sherwood Smith — and I really enjoyed them, especially the latter — anyway, now her titles are jumping out at me. I didn’t know she ever wrote contemporary, but her novelette “Being Real” looks like fun, and hey, it’s only $0.99.

  1. She’s got a collection of her short stories on the site, too: Whispered Magics. I bought them when they were available via Fictionwise.

There’s a prequel to Crown Duel based on Vidanric’s education in military matters in Marloven Hess – which seems to split people: either they love it, too, or they hate it because it has no Meliara (I love it): A Stranger to Command. What she hasn’t written (or made available yet) is his time at the court of Colend (to learn all those courtier mannerisms he needed to mislead his king).

  2. Hmm, I should maybe add that the BVC Sherwood Smith book that I think comes closest to Crown Duel in youthful intrigue spirit without being a copy (it’s even set on Wren’s World, not on Sartorias-deles) is A Posse of Princesses. Just in case you want to read something similar.
